Many self-employed Europeans have set up their business in the Gers.
Countless consultants, translators, teachers, home workers, graphical artists and IT technicians have been attracted by the quality of life, the climate and an ideal location between Toulouse and Bordeaux.
20% of them come from Northern Europe. Most of them are executives aged between 30 and 50, with previous professional experience in corporations.
Thanks to the progress of information technology and the extensive coverage of the broadband network in the region, they are able to work from home. It takes an average of three and a half hours to reach the major European cities by low cost airlines.

A significant contribution to the local economy : These new entrepreneurs bring new skills and resources to the regions where they set up their business. And since they usually bring their families with them, they also help to revitalize the rural economy. They provide a means of maintaining local services and shops and make a significant economic contribution to the region.

Help in getting started

You may need of list of the local schools, or to find accommodation, learn more about the local services, leisure activities, cinemas and concerts... A network of partner villages is now available to support anyone interested in setting up their business in the region. These villages can provide information on available accommodation and building land, as well as information on the local businesses and public services and they are all connected to the broadband network. Each village has its own Local Welcoming Committee that helps newcomers become established.

The Gers Chamber of Commerce is creating favourable conditions to start new companies in The Gers. Twice a month, the CCI offers an information meeting to start a business. Some of the topics discussed concern the business plan, the legal structure for your company, funding opportunities, etc.
