In Blaziert you will discover a protected village that has succeeded in conserving its history and culture. Equally, as a recipient of the “4 Flowers” ranking, Blaziert is known as a beautiful, floral village which promotes respect for the environment. Ultimately, Blaziert is a cultural, old village, that is reminded of its past every day by the ancient vestiges and brick walls which still remain today. It gives me pleasure to welcome new inhabitants to our village and help them with their move here.

Located halfway between Condom and Lectoure, Blaziert was built on a summit 134m high, on what was a limestone beach. The village overlooks the valley of Auvignon, which at one time served as a border and was a source of many conflicts. The name of Blaziert is thought to be derived from the Occitan word "blasinièr" meaning "tree of Judea" (however the evolution of the word in Gascon language is "blasièr" (“blazère”) meaning maple tree. Furthermore, the root of the name Blaziert is “BER” signifying the words tree or alder. Thus symbolically in 2001, three trees were planted around the village (a tree of Judea, a maple, and an alder).
The 12th and 13th centuries saw the construction of a fort, a chateau, and subsequently a village which built itself around these monuments; in the location of what is now Blaziert. The historic village within Blaziert has not undergone any construction since the 16th century. At the end of each street a fortified gate can be found. The church of Blaziert, built on the site of an older building destroyed by fire, dates back to the 19th century. Inside, a drawing of Christ (in the North Chapel) is listed as a Historical Monument by the Supplementary Inventory of Movable Objects.
In the village, fountains and wells have been restored and are adorned by flowers. Blaziert is a national award labelled village ("towns and villages in bloom"); classified with the highest ranking of 4 flowers. Here time is measured with four sundials: an “analemma,” a “scaphoid,” a “meridian” and an “occidental.” The two walks, the “schoolchildren road” and the “scent road” of Blaziert will enchant and seduce you to discover the village. As well, in the village you can discover the ceramic plaques designed with names of places chosen by the village's children. The plaques themselves were executed and illustrated by Christian Huc and Christine Fitzpatrick. And finally, in the south of the village the Pebereau windmill stands.
